Abstract:

Associated Councils of the Arts sponsored Youth, Education and the Arts with the support of the Office of Education and the state arts councils of Missouri and Illinois. This major national conference brought together community leaders with artists and teachers for the first time to make a commitment to the concept that the arts must be a basic part of the general education of all children on the pre-school, elementary and secondary levels. The conference itself was a major step toward this goal. (p. 2-3)
