Summary:

The United Arts Council of Greensboro, North Carolina gave the Triad Stage, a nonprofit theatre, a $30,000 grant and a $30,000 interest free loan. Because of this, the theatre will be able to raise another $100,000 pledged by a group of donors and meet their $1 million budget for the year. This has caused concern among the councils 14 member organizations who receive annual funding from the council. Triad Stage is not a member of the council and this may be the first time the council has provided such a large amount of funding to an organization that is not a member agency.
