Abstract:
Paper presented at First International Conference on Arts and Economics, sponsored by the Association for Cultural Economics, held in Edinburgh, Scotland, August 8-10, 1979. Comment by Alexander Belinfante appears on p. 283.
Our aim in this paper is to examine the extent to which the supply of performing arts determines their demand in Sweden. In doing so, we assume that the supply of performing arts is almost entirely determined by public support. However, because of limited data about performances and audiences, we have limited our discussion to two categories of performing arts: live performances of theater and music. (p. 272)
