Summary:

This summary report contains information on all 55 state art agencies covering the fiscal year 1974. Includes a directory of the state arts agencies. This summary report has been prepared primarily as an introduction to the understanding of state arts agencies. The last section is in the form of a directory containing the current names, addresses and officials of each one, and can be used as a guide for making contact directly with them. The summary report also shows the similarities and differences in objectives, organization, operations, staffing, and funding practices that were in effect in 1974 and are still fairly characteristic of these new public agencies, notwithstanding some important developments in the following years.
