This paper is intended to provide empirical and theoretical evidence concerning four dimensions of Canadian culture. The four dimensions of Canadian artistic culture are as follows:

  1. the economic size of Canadian culture;
  2. the socioeconomic status of artists, arts organizations and audiences as well as the impact of the new technologies;
  3. the importance of culture in the emerging post-industrial society; and
  4. the near term policy future for Canadian culture.
