Abstract:

In 1967 the Carnegie Commission on Educational Television inspired the founding of our current public broadcasting system. That system is now a national institution. A new Carnegie Commission was formed to study the future of public broadcasting. The panel 's report offers solutions to the funding problems of a noncommercial system, and explores new ways public broadcasting can maintain its freedom of expression and artistic excellence. Full of vital factual information, this extraordinary document can bring new life and challenge to the radio and television media and to our lives. (Back cover)
