Abstract:

This compilation of descriptions of Programs That Work has been prepared for the Alliance for Arts Education National Conference on the Arts in Education at the John. F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on September 25, 1979 through September 27, 1979.

The purpose of the conference is to bring together National and State leadership in the arts to discuss issues, share information and develop planning strategies for collaborative programming in the arts. In addition, this conference serves as a culmination of four years of federal, state and local partnerships that have been developed through the Alliance for Arts Education State Network and thus provides an opportunity to assess progress, identify problems and determine direction for program expansion in the future.

The National Conference Planning Committee selected the programs to be presented during the conference based on evidence of their ability to serve as a model for other programs with similar resources and needs, evidence of a past history of success and evidence of commitment to the arts in education.
