Abstract:

The following reports are a justification for the creation of a performing arts and entertainment center from three 1920's era vaudeville and legitimate theatres on Playhouse Square, Cleveland. Except where cited, all research was conducted by staff of the Playhouse Square Foundation during 1979 and 1980.... The staff of Playhouse Square Foundation is unaware of any previous study which attempts to project quantitatively the impact of such a center, and the methods used here are consequently ad hoc and untested. Following the reports are maps of the Playhouse Square theatres and the surrounding district, and an annotated bibliography of all studies commissioned by, for or about Playhouse Square.
