National Crafts Planning Project: A Report on the Project and Congress, July 1, 1980 Through August 15, 1981

Author: McLean, John

Publication Year: 1980

Media Type: Report

Summary:

Abstract:

So that this publication echoes the same sense of partnership, it was decided that this report be a collaborative effort. The different segments have been essentially produced by the person or group responsible for that particular phase of the Project. Editing has only been employed for considerations of grammar and form.

The archival aspects of this document alone are special, serving as a statement on the frame of mind of America's craftspeople. The document is a reflection of the broad crafts field and its relationship to every aspect of our culture at this time. As a mirror of the past year, it stands in tribute to all those involved in its realization. As a bridge to the future, it is a plan of action for the crafts in all its manifestations, and supports the belief that the values craftspeople embody can play a compelling roll in our society today.
