Abstract:

In its inaugural issue, the contributors to the National Arts Stabilizations Journal address the profound and multi-dimensional environmental changes affecting arts organizations.

One article considers the key elements of strategic leadership in a changing environment by identifying forces that shape the arts industry. It sheds light on the methodology the National Arts Stabilization (NAS) uses in one of its seminars to analyze the environment, develop strategies, and improve leadership capacity.

The last article is an informal survey of a group of arts managers from the dance, museum, opera, symphony, and theater communities. They were asked to define the major challenges in their fields and offer strategies to effectively solve these challenges.
