Models for Evaluation of Arts in Education

Author: Ceccherelli, Wendy A.

Publication Year: 1977

Media Type: Report

Summary:

In an attempt to demonstrate the present status of evaluation for arts in education, a wide scope of complex issues and questions have been posed. This paper examined the sketchy history of evaluation as it has been applied to arts in education by looking at the arts and their essential qualities, at the schools and the educational environment, and finally, at the methods used to critically evaluate the synthesis of the arts into the curriculum. Suggested techniques have been proposed, but no solutions found to the question of what is the optimal evaluation model to apply to the arts in education.
