Summary:

Abstract:

The focus of this issue is on current and potential collaborations between the not-for-profit and the for-profit arts and how it can be mutually beneficial. Taken together, these articles and reports offer a significant index of current thinking and planning for how the for-profit and not-for-profit arts might work together in the future.

This topic has become more relevant in recent years. The authors contend that the nonprofit fields financial and artistic challenges cause them to seek partnerships to improve visibility and increase revenue. Commercial arts organizations need help in producing new content for niche and mass markets, which is an area where the nonprofit excels.
