At its June 1982 meeting the (Canada) Council took note of an Executive Committee discussion of Council's role in the presentation and promotion of the work of Canadian artists in foreign countries. In response to a request from the Council, management agreed to develop a document for Council outlining our current involvement, and including recommendations for the future, with present and anticipated costs. The following report represents the descriptive components of the promised document.

Abstract:

At its June 1982 meeting the (Canada) Council took note of an Executive Committee discussion of Council's role in the presentation and promotion of the work of Canadian artists in foreign countries. In response to a request from the Council, management agreed to develop a document for Council outlining our current involvement, and including recommendations for the future, with present and anticipated costs. The following report represents the descriptive components of the promised document. this report does not consider what the Canada council should be doing in the way of international representation. Rather it outlines the scale and scope of international Canadian artistic activity supported by the Canada Council during 1980-81 and 1981-82. (p. i).
