Summary:

As culturally diverse students become the majority population in our schools (cf. Appendix A) our education systems must respond with a multicultural curriculum designed to facilitate cultural understanding and racial harmony. Because of the value of the arts in helping students embrace their cultural identity and accepting other cultures, arts education must be an integral part of multicultural education. Since the coming changes are so radical, it is imperative that arts education begin to transform its curriculum today and become entirely multicultural by the year 2000.
