Summary:
The purpose of this paper is to explore the mass culture properties of the fast food restaurant phenomenon in the U.S. By applying the characteristics of pop art as described by art critics to the fast food restaurant, an analogy is drawn between popular art (kitsch) and fast food restaurants. The conclusion is that the fast food restaurant is an expression of popular culture and its existence probably prevents the development of a finer taste in food.
