Abstract:

States, counties and multiplicities all over American are realizing the positive impact the arts can have on the economic growth and revitalization of their communities. Realizing this, many arts organizations and/or civic leaders have taken the time to compile statistics and examples of arts programs, events, and organizations that have impacted their cities and states to help gain support for the continued funding of the arts. Studies of the economic impact of the arts primarily are used for arts advocacy efforts. Those who conduct them, and those who use them agree that the principal of such studies is to increase the effectiveness of arguments for the arts before representatives of the public and private sectors.
