Abstract:
This report is Phase II of a study of the cultural institutions in the Baltimore area. This phase involves 1) an examination of the public and private mechanisms for support of the arts that have been developed throughout the country; (2) a more detailed analysis of the current base of support for the arts in the Baltimore region; and (3) the development, evaluation and recommendation of a variety of mechanisms whereby arts organizations may broaden the base of their support in consort with governmental and private funding initiatives.
This report uses the same 14 cultural institutions as in the report for Phase I. In fiscal 1976, the 14 institutions project $16.3 million in operating expenses. Using a multiplier of 2.0 to estimate the direct and indirect or induced impact of these expenditures results in $32.6 million in total business volume and sales. (p. iii)
