Abstract:

The goals of the mayor's committee was to instruct the mayor on cultural policy and on the kind of municipal structure needed to carry out such policy effectively. Included in the report is an estimate of the economic impact of the arts. This Committee estimates that cultural activities and related industries generate over $3 billion in expenditures and receipts and contribute about $102 million in local tax revenues. (p. 7)
