Abstract:
. . ., the Council on Foundations in 1981 commissioned this volume of essays to shed new light on the subject of corporate philanthropy. The plan was to examine what social good corporate philanthropy serves, and how; and to explore in an unhurried way the methods by which corporate philanthropy is being managed, what it has in common with other forms of philanthropy, and what opportunities - and pitfalls - lie ahead. (p. 3) The book is divided into four major sections. After an introduction, Section II covers the organization of corporate giving programs. Section III discusses current issues and trends. Section IV looks at, and to, the future. Appendices include sources of information and resources [bibliography]; and a glossary of philanthropic terms.
