Abstract:
As an independent agency of the Federal government, the National Endowment for the Arts sees its role as a facilitator of local public and private funding initiatives. In that role, the Endowment, through its Design Arts program, has made the publication of this handbook possible. The handbook is designed to highlight the 40 different grant categories for which city and county governmental agencies are eligible.
The purpose of this booklet is not only to point out potential sources of funding for programs within the Arts Endowment but to demonstrate to its readers the rich opportunities for involvement in the arts by virtually every city or county government agency. (p. 5, 6)
