Abstract:

Careers in the arts is designed for use by undergraduates, graduates, and beginning professionals pursuing a career in any of the creative, technical, or administrative arts fields. It's purpose is to identify the books, organizations, and other resources which can increase your awareness of employment prospects in the arts, help you establish realistic career goals, and broaden your perspective on the variety of arts professions that exist. Careers in the Arts is divided into five main sections: Performing arts, Visual arts and crafts, Film/Video/Audio, Museums/Humanities/Literature, and Arts Administration. Each section includes the names and addresses of national arts associations, unions, and guilds; internship and apprenticeship opportunities, and a bibliography. The Arts Administration section also lists graduate programs, seminars, workshops, and conferences in the field. (p. 6,7)
