This bibliography on the administration of the arts is by no means definitive, but represents an effort to reflect the burgeoning interest in the management of the arts and the relationship of the arts to the world of business and industry.

The fact that the listing is being updated only eight months after its initial publication attests to increasing emphasis being placed upon the field, and the expanding resources available. New entries have enlarged the bibliography by more than twenty percent of the original references.

The criteria for inclusion has been that the material should be a substantive discussion of topics having long term effects. Articles reporting short term effects are not listed. Readers interested in this area should consult Variety, The New York Times, and the newsletters of the various associations of the arts. Our focus here is both on the performing arts and museum and gallery management. The subjects covered include management and operations, economics, subsidy and community support, arts councils, and topics of a more general nature. Two appendices are added which list newsletters, reports and periodicals frequently containing information of interest to the field of arts administration.
