Summary:

In 1978, the Illinois State Board of Education adopted a five-year plan for the Arts in General Education. A statement was included which said it would be the policy of the Board to advocate for Illinois schools an Arts in General Education program which would provide an opportunity for all students to experience the arts in a continuing and systematic way. Since the adoption of this statement, the staff of the State Board of Education, with assistance from Regional and State Advisory Committees, has been committed to the implementation of this goal. This publication is one example of the unified efforts to provide information on arts education.

Abstract:
