Arts Impact: Curriculum for Change; A Summary Report

Author: Arts IMPACT Evaluation Team

Publication Year: 1972

Media Type: Report

Summary:

Project IMPACT, described in the Summary Report which follows, represents a relatively small but certainly significant effort to demonstrate that the arts are the ideal and indispensible vehicle for humanizing the education of children and teachers. While each of the five IMPACT sites approached the problem in terms of their respective resources, aspirations and constraints, the sum of their experiences to date supports an incontrovertible thesis - education is made more effective for both teacher and learner when the arts are present in their many forms. IMPACT has provided many examples of this truth.

Abstract:

Project IMPACT, described in the Summary Report which follows, represents a relatively small but certainly significant effort to demonstrate that the arts are the ideal and indispensible vehicle for humanizing the education of children and teachers. While each of the five IMPACT sites approached the problem in terms of their respective resources, aspirations and constraints, the sum of their experiences to date supports an incontrovertible thesis - education is made more effective for both teacher and learner when the arts are present in their many forms. IMPACT has provided many examples of this truth. (Foreword).
