Summary:

The evaluation of the Hubbard-Rouse Art Curriculum materials in 1970-1971 consisted of two major components. The first of these was a detailed accounting of the extent of the student-teacher participation in the program during the year. The second consisted of a systematic compilation and analysis of the opinions of University City school personnel about the Curriculum.

Abstract:

The evaluation of the Hubbard-Rouse Art Curriculum materials in 1970-1971 consisted of two major components. The first of these was a detailed accounting of the extent of the student-teacher participation in the program during the year. The second consisted of a systematic compilation and analysis of the opinions of University City school personnel about the Curriculum.

Before proceeding with the presentation and discussion of the findings from these efforts, it must be re-emphasized that the Hubbard-Rouse Curriculum materials used in the University City Schools during 1969-1971 were not the final, published edition of the Curriculum. Rather, the lesson materials existed in duplicated form. The filmstrips which accompanied the lessons were prepared especially for the University City trial, and are not necessarily the type of visuals that will be included in the final published edition. The reader should thus view the comments of University City teachers about the Curriculum with this limitation in mind. (p. 6)
