Abstract:

In response to a request from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) and the National Assembly of Community Arts Agencies (NACAA) conducted an analysis of local government supported cultural facilities and resources. The purpose of the analysis was to determine the number, nature and use of publicly owned facilities used for arts and cultural activities and to indicate trends in the number and use of these facilities. The analysis is to provide information for the Cultural Policies Issues Definition Memo which will in turn lead to a Presidential Option paper regarding a Federal Policy on the arts and culture.
