Abstract:

As a service to its membership, the National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts, Inc. periodically surveys its members' Administrative salary practices. Such surveys are intended to give community school administrators a yardstick against which they can measure their own schools' practices and procedures.

From September 1979 to January 1980, we were fortunate to have the assistance of intern John Pilato, B. A. candidate (Management of Musical Enterprises) at Baruch College of the City College of New York. John designed the survey questionnaire; followed up on the responses; collated the data; and assembled this final report. We are indebted to him and to the College.

A few words of caution: Our response rate was good, but the 40 responses received represented only 64% of the population surveyed. And, of the responses actually received, not every answer was useable. Accordingly, users of this survey are cautioned against the drawing of sweeping conclusions.

We offer this survey to the membership and to non-affiliated community-based schools of the arts, in the hopes that this information proves helpful and useful. p. Preface)
