Abstract:

The National Guild periodically conducts surveys of its member schools' administrative salary structures in order to determine trends in these pay scales, and to help member schools assess their own practices in relation to those of their colleagues.

Accordingly, during the fall of 1977, questionnaires (see Appendix I) were sent to 60 member schools. Thirty-three, or 55% were returned.

The following information is based on those thirty-three responses. Please bear in mind, therefore, that these results cannot be considered conclusive. But for purposes of comparison and evaluation, they should be of value.

No attempt has been made to compare this information with information obtained from similar surveys conducted in past years, because of differences in collection and computation techniques.

Any suggestions about procedures or topics with regard to future surveys will be appreciated. Until then, we thank you for your assistance with the Administrative Salary Survey 1977-1978, and hope for your continued cooperation. (p. 1)
