Summary:

The past couple years have seen a decrease in foundation giving, dropping 2% in 2003 from 2002.  However, about 45 percent of foundations hope for a giving increase in 2004, while 36 percent expect no change in giving levels, and 18 percent feel their giving will decline. In addition, the largest foundations experienced a decrease in giving by 5%. Among decrease in grant funding, the arts experienced a 5% decrease.
