A regional cultural plan, designed by the City of San Jose Office of Cultural Affairs and the Arts Council of Santa Clara County to build upon and expand the scope of the 1988 initiative Arts 20/20. The purpose of this document is to address the changing environments and challenges facing the regions cultural community and promote continued growth of a diverse cultural activity.

Abstract: The City of San Jose and Santa Clara County created the initiative 20/21 to be a continuation of a previous cultural planning project. To address the changing industry and community in this region, the new 20/21 cultural plan is intended to span the transition between the 20th and 21st centuries, while continuing to promote cultural and artistic activity in the region. Areas of redefinition in the plan include expanding the cultural area from the city to include the regional area, inclusion of community culture and arts programs in addition to the fine arts, and technology and the arts. For each specific area, a vision statement is given along with recommended strategies for success. The document also includes an examination of the regions' demographics and contributing social and economic factors.
