OVERVIEW

Tide Field is a project commissioned through Art@Bartram's initiatives to bring the community a better understanding of the relationship between Bartram's Garden and the Schuylkill River. Tide Field is an art installation of colorful buoys that are hidden and revealed depending on the river's tide.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

PROJECT EVALUATION

As the tide of the Schuylkill River rises and falls twice a day, different colored bead-like buoys are revealed to look like caterpillars on the water. Artist, Stacy Levy, created this installation with the goal of allowing people to see a visualization of the natural flow of nature around them and draw more people to spend time in nature through interaction with the river. It would appear that effectiveness of this project could be based on whether or not the art installation results in higher numbers of visitors, kayakers, boaters, etc. who spend time at the river.
