OVERVIEW

It’s called Project 31 because 31 artists and arts educators immediately responded to Regional Artistic Director Tony Small's request in February 2020 to help create virtual arts education videos and activities for every day the Boys & Girls Club doors were closed because of COVID. The Project has now expanded with generous support from the DC Commission of Arts & Humanities (DCCAH).

Project 31 was created with artists around the world when Tony requested former students or interns, Boys & Girls Club of Greater Washington alum, and arts colleagues (educators and performers) to create a virtual arts education program and submit videos for every day the Clubs were closed because of COVID. He immediately received 31 and thus called it "Project 31". Today it is a part of the Pallotti Arts Academy program emergent series Pilot where Tony serves as Director.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Here's what educators across the country are saying: “In a post-COVID world, creativity and productivity continue in this exciting digital work for young people. It is charming, interesting, touching, funny, and relatable, and I am so proud of The Boys & Girls Club [of Greater Washington], and its leader Tony Small for bringing this to the general public.” — Denyce Graves, renowned Grammy Award-winning Mezzo-Soprano.
