OVERVIEW

As the summer months stretch ahead of us with continued social distancing, stay-at-home orders, and closed camps and public spaces, families are in desperate need of creative at-home programming during the COVID-19 pandemic. Murals on the Move, our mobile artmaking studio, brings high-quality art education and community mural-making to Playstreets across the city.

Throughout July and August, Murals on the Move is offering fun and educational art activities to keep children engaged, thinking, and expressing their creativity during these stressful times. Kids can choose from three different activities: Mural Mobile Kit, Activity Books, and Ground Murals, any of which can be finished on-site or brought home to complete later.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Murals on the Move, presented by Chase, is a partnership of Mural Arts Philadelphia and Philadelphia Parks & Recreation to expand art classes around the city, unite communities, and transform public space.

Teaching artists from Mural Arts will arrive at rec centers around the city for three-week sessions in the spring, summer, and fall. When you see our colorful van, fully stocked with arts supplies, you can look forward to creating fun, vibrant art that represents you and your community. Every recreation center will receive final artwork created by the artist, community, and teens so that they can put the art on display for the public.
